It might seem hard to believe, but once upon a time, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry partied together and a former royal butler has lifted the lid on an especially spooky bash the trio enjoyed together.

Let’s just say we wish we had an invite…

Prince William, Kate and Harry’s Halloween party at Balmoral

Former royal butler Grant Harrold has spilled the beans on Prince William, Kate, and Prince Harry’s “spooky” 2009 Halloween party and we are eating it up!

Harrold has revealed that back in the day he helped the young royals throw a party to remember, all in good fun to celebrate spooky season.

Speaking to Smooth Spins, the former butler said that “the younger royals used to go away for Halloween, I used to go up to Scotland with Prince William and Kate”.

Ever wondered how the royals spend Halloween? Well, Harrold has dropped a very interesting insight.

Apparently, whilst at their royal residence of Balmoral in Scotland, they would well and truly embrace the atmospheric and remote setting and dress it up to invite guests for Halloween.

Prince William and Princess Kate, then 27, would kit out a cabin on the estate and invite their pals to dance the night away for the evening.

Harrold said: “I remember back in 2009 they threw a Halloween party at one of the remote cabins on the estate.”

Balmoral Castle is known to have several cabins on the estate – it sounds like it definitely gave horror movie vibes. Spooky!

The former butler went on to explain that “me and one of the other butlers kitted it all out for Halloween with cobwebs and spiders”.

The butlers would help with the decorating, but Wills and Kate would take over from there

He added: “The kitchens packed up the food for William and Kate to take down [to the cabin]. They took it all down themselves, unpacking it and serving it themselves. They then washed it all back up, packed up the boxes and brought it back up to the main house.”

Harrold explained that it was a more intimate and casual affair and that guests wouldn’t dress up, in fact, they typically sported jeans and t-shirts.

He described that it “wasn’t huge”  but that there would be around 12 people in attendance.

“William always used to invite his brother [Prince Harry] to things like this,” the former Highgrove staffer explained, hinting that Wills and Kate threw a number of soirées. “William and Kate absolutely loved it.”

Princess Kate’s Halloween fun with George, Charlotte and Louis

These days, Halloween probably looks pretty different for William and Kate. With Harry across the pond, there is no more partying with their royal relative.

They now share three children (George, Charlotte and Louis) and according to previous reports they tend to fulfil other traditions like dressing up and trick or treating with their youngsters.

“For anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are…This is Kate with their kids knocking on our door in London trick-or-treating at Halloween,” neighbour Jay Rutland penned over a snap of Princess Kate and her three children stood at a gate, seemingly in costume, as per Hello!, around Halloween in 2023, confirming that Kate does indeed get into the swing of spooky season with her children.

It might not be a Balmoral bash, but it still sounds like a lot of fun!
